Earth Songs for Saturday

by

CorithaFeatured today is Coritha’s song “One Earth” Coritha is from the Philippines, wrote, and sang this beautiful song. To read more about Coritha and hear more of her environmental songs see Coritha.com.

Some of the lyrics to One Earth:

We’ve ravaged our forests
And poisoned the air
We’ve plundered our oceans
And laid habitats bare

We’ve made our fortunes
From the riches of the land
Unmindful of the consequences
We will reap in the end
Our senseless wars now haunt us
With bloodstains on our hands
And battlefields are smoldering
From our indifference

We’ve reached the summit
Of this foolish quest for gain
Sacrificed all living things
Without sense or regret

I believe we have to make a choice
If we are to survive and carry on
We have one earth to live on
We have one earth to share
We have one earth to care for and respect

I believe we all must make a choice
I believe we have no time to lose
We have one earth to live on
We have one earth to share
We have one earth to care for and respect

REM’s Fall On Me is a song about acid rain and the damage it does to the environment. It’s sort of repetitive but catchy.

We can reduce our electricity use or use alternative energy to reduce our contribution to acid rain. We can also carpool, take the bus, ride a bike, or buy a low emission vehicle.

Some of the Environmental Defense staff is shown in this video singing their global warming themed version of White Christmas. See FightGlobalWarming.com for more information on fighting global warming.
