Breathe Easy !

by

french1.jpgGood Morning!
Ms Ippy, (no connection to known or unknown hippies) had a strident, booming tone which did not sit well with her otherwise sophisticated veneer. She unapologetically explained this away ,as a remnant of an aristocratic lineage. With a nostalgic shine in her eyes, she would re-tell stories of an ancestral property, spread across mountains. She proudly laid claim to a gene pool of strong, vocal chords, honed and polished by her pioneering ancestors, who hailed each other from one range to another. Ancestral wealth or not we are all refugees from the wilderness. In the new, concrete jungle howdy’s have to be yelled above the din of everyday city sounds. Survival of the fittest has one racing through the maze of steel and concrete. The hunt for food, clothing and shelter is done with finesse. The body is alert and recoils from human stalkers. However caught up in the sea-saw of existence, an occasional leaf-scented breeze, blowing from a hidden patch of green may stir up longings to go back to one’s roots. Soaking in, the silence of green lung spaces, is the closest to a déjà-vu feeling for today’s harried city- bred .France, the City of Lights, with it’s numerous parks like Parc du champ de Mars dotting the urban landscape, has realized and promoted parks as an essential among forgotten luxuries. These vibrant, green parks borrowed from hard-pressed cities gives a release to the urge to walk back in time and be impulsive. While not everyone can run with wild, abandon glee like Phoebe of ‘ Friends’ something like it, is recommended park behavior, if the joie de vivre in our genetic makeup is to be found.
